Be sure and keep your driveway and walkways cleaned off during the winter

Stuff on DrivewayYour driveway can be a hazardous place where accidents occur. I know a woman who slipped on a pine cone and fractured her hip. Then, there's moss. I fractured my kneecap when I slipped on moss on my driveway, and a friend of mine fractured her ankle when she slipped on moss on a sidewalk.

Here in the Seattle area keeping branches, pine cones, and pine needles off the driveway and walkways is often a challenge during the winter months. Moss, too. We've had fierce storms here in the last few days. When the weather cleared for a few hours, I wanted to finish cleaning up my garden, but I raked up a wheel barrel full of debris instead.

Recently, I wrote about removing ivy from the sidewalk in front of two houses on my block that the owners and renters had let grow. Another sidewalk hazard.
