July 4, 2025, marks the 249th birthday of the United States of America. Millions of people celebrate the day with barbecues, parades, and fireworks. And also travel, with more than 72 million Americans planning to travel 50-plus miles from home this year.
About 61 percent of Americans will attend a July Fourth picnic or barbecue, 41 per cent will attend a fireworks display or community celebration, and 13 percent will be traveling, according to WalletHub, a personal finance website.
It’s always good to think safety first on holidays, including July Fourth with eight people dying from fireworks-related incidents in 2023, a 38 percent increase from 2022.
