Which consumer happenings cheered you recently and which ones made you want to scream or weep?
Here are my best and worst consumer experiences this week:
My best: A pair of jeans on sale at T.J. Maxx
It’s been years since I been able to find a new pair of jeans that fit. I got lucky and found a pair of Lee Jeans at T.J. Maxx on sale.
I paid $14. What a bargain.
My worst: Low-quality customer service at CVS – again
After selecting four items, I wait in line at CVS for a cashier. The cashier nearest me blows her nose, but doesn’t go wash her hands or clean them with hand sanitizer. So I wait for the next cashier.
The second cashier asks me to take the four items out of the basket I’ve placed on the counter. As I do so, I ask her why she can’t take them out. She replies that some people don’t want all of the items in the basket, so the customer has to take them out.
I get my credit card out and prepare to swipe it, but she wants my CVS card. I have trouble finding it, so the cashier asks for my phone number. Then she’s irritated that I haven’t swiped my credit card yet.
The cashier is snippy for the rest of the transaction. I’m glad to leave the store.
