If you haven’t done it already, it’s time to get your winter garden planted.
I planted kohlrabi, broccoli, kale, and collard seedlings. I also planted a row of turnip seeds.
For the first time in many years, I made a big effort to grow my own food.
I had problems with mildew and pests in my garden this year. My daughter Mona, Ph.d., botanist, suggested I use straw in my garden. Some type of ground cover helps to keep diseases in the soil from splashing up on the plants when plants are watered. I’m allergic to beauty bark, so I’m trying straw.
