You never know what’s going to happen next in life. One day, you could lose someone you love or you could be in the middle of a pandemic. So, enjoy every day to its fullest. That’s the recommendation of our boomer blogging group.
Last week, I spend days looking through my photo collections for photos for a funeral. It was a huge, huge trip down memory lane. Marriages, kids, divorces, travel, deaths, and more. I feel like I’ve been through an emotional wringer.
Friends provide such joy in life. I was really fortunate when I moved to the Seattle area years ago and joined the League of Women Voters. I met a group of wonderful women who have become my good friends.

It’s been a tough week. I had to organize the hundreds of photos I took at the National Women’s History conference in early January, which meant I lost time writing my book, “Follow the Money: My Life as a Financial Journalist.”
The boomers in our blogging groups have been busy this week, except for Meryl Baer of Six Decades and Counting. Baer spent the week cruising the Caribbean, and now that she’s back home she’s adjusting to the colder weather and returning to everyday life – restocking the fridge, cooking, cleaning, and endless laundry.
Last week, I was fortunate to be able to attend a conference in San Diego on women’s history. Sponsored by the National Women’s History Alliance, an organization that promotes women’s history, the conference featured discussions on how to plan activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary this year of women getting the vote in 1920.
Bloggers are writing about returning to the basics and focusing on the fundamental aspects of their lives. As the Billy Joel song says, they “don’t wanna waste more time.” Boomers don’t want to waste time on political or personal arguments.
Another year came and went and the New Year begins. In addition, another decade begins . . . perhaps. Does the new decade begin in 2020 or does the old decade end in 2020? A difference of opinion exists on that question.
