Sabra Dipping Co. is recalling the majority of its hummus products due to concerns over Listeria monocytogenes, which was found at the manufacturing facility but not in products that were tested. The recalled hummus was made before Nov. 8, 2016.
The products were distributed to retail outlets, including food service establishments and supermarkets, in the United States and Canada.

Listeria monocytogenes is a bacteria, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy people may suffer short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women.
Consumers with a Sabra hummus container with a “Best Before” date up through January 23, 2017 are urged to discard it. Consumers can find the code and “Best Before” date on the lid of each package.
Sabra products not included in the recall are: Sabra Organic Hummus, Sabra Salsa, Sabra Guacamole, and Sabra Greek Yogurt Dips.
