Recall of the Week: Tool Bench Utility Knife due to laceration hazard

About 204,000 Tool Bench utility knives are being recalled, reports the U.S. Consumer Product Commission.

Made in China for Dollar Tree Stores Inc., of Chesapeake, Va., the utility knife’s blade can slide past the blade support during use, posing a laceration hazard to consumers.

The black or gray utility knives are about 6 inches long and about 1 ¼ inches wide. The package includes an extra blade. "Tool Bench Utility Knife" is printed on the front of the product’s packaging, and "975942," date code "93," and "UPC 639277759429" are printed on the back.

The knives were sold at Dollar Tree, Dollar Bill$, Greenbacks, and Deal$ stores nationwide from April 2009 through October 2009 for about $1.

Consumers should stop using the recalled utility knife and return it to the store where purchased for a full refund, advises the commission.
