About a week ago, I wrote about whether it was a good idea to buy Easter items at the after Easter sales to use next year.
It wouldn’t work for me. I don’t have room to store big chocolate rabbits, like the one in the photo and my kids and grandkids aren’t in the age range for Easter baskets. And, I don’t send Easter baskets to my adult children like 60 percent of people in a survey said they did.

So, I looked over the items in the after Easter sale to find a treat. A woman who came over while I was looking through the offerings said, at half price, the Easter deals still looked expensive. I agreed.
I decided on a 2-ounce package of Ghirardelli chocolate Easter bunnies, shown above, for the half-price cost of six pieces for $3.49. Later, I calculated that the price was on expensive side at 58 cents for each piece.
A week later when I decided to enjoy a few chocolates, I was disappointed to see how small the chocolates were. The package seemed huge for what was inside, definitely overpackaging.
As for the price, I thought it might have been what I write about frequently about sales: “Marked way up and marked way down.” However, I checked the price online: $6.98 for the regular price and $3.49 for the sale price.
However, Ghirardelli’s Easter offering was way overpriced. The regular price of the chocolate bunnies was $1.16 each. That’s double the price of chocolate caramel squares that Ghirardelli sells.
I bet people who bought this Easter treat were disappointed like I was.
