Pandemic continues to affect bloggers’ lives during the holidays

I’ve got my duck dinner ordered, unlike Thanksgiving when my late order was marginal, and I’ve send my Christmas cards. All I need to do is decorate my tree, and I’ll be ready for my home-alone Christmas.

I do miss my daughters so much. We talked over WhatsApp today.

I’ve been to Zoom meetings and set up one several months ago. So, since I want to talk with my sisters via Zoom, I practiced today setting up a Zoom meeting. I’ll arrange a Zoom call for Christmas Day.

What are my blogging buddies up to? Here’s a report:

Pandemic year a blank

Year-end letters have been a popular vehicle to let family and friends know all about your interesting, adventurous year. I am sure some folks had impressive experiences in 2020, but not Meryl Baer of Beach Boomer Bulletin. A blank page could summarize her year. She briefly recaps these unexciting months in this week’s post, “My 2020 Year-End Letter.”

Positive pandemic changes

After reading fellow boomer Meryl Baer’s blog post about her pandemic lifestyle, it prompted Jennifer Koshak, of Unfold And Begin, to start thinking about hers. Koshak shares her thoughts in “What I’ll Miss After the Pandemic.”

A way to manage worry

The amount of worry in the world seems to have increased significantly over the past year, observes Carol Cassara. She’s been using an ingenious, if not non-traditional, way to manage it and tells us about it at A Healing Spirit in “What Can You Do with All that Worry?”

A list of favorite, closed restaurants

Tom Sightings reports at Sightings Over Sixty that his local news website just came out with a list of favorite restaurants – which seemed odd timing to him, until he realized the method behind their madness. So, he wants to know “What's Your Favorite Restaurant?” … and when was the last time you went to a restaurant anyway?

The value of meetup groups

Staying connected is so important when you age, but did you know you can organize groups of people with the same interests and meet online or offline when you want? Rebecca Olkowski with BabyBoomster.com talks about such meetings in “Why Baby Boomers Should Start a Meetup Group Right Now.”

The importance of a great first boss

One test of luck in life is a first boss, writes Laurie Stone of Musings, Rants & Scribbles. A bad one can fill you with insecurities and limitations. But a good one will give you knowledge and confidence and when it’s time to leave, let you go with grace. This happened to Stone’s son, Paul.
