Igloo is recalling more than 1.06 million 90-quart rolling coolers due to finger amputation and crushing risks. In addition, about 47,000 coolers in Canada and 23,000 in Mexico are being recalled.
The tow handle can pinch consumers’ fingertips against the cooler, and the firm has received 12 reports of fingertip injuries, including fingertip amputations, bone fractures, and lacerations.
The recall involves Igloo 90 Qt. Flip & Tow Rolling Coolers manufactured prior to January 2024. The date of manufacture is printed on the bottom of the cooler in a circular pattern with an arrow pointing to the month. The last two digits of the year are inside the circle.
With a cost of $80 to $140, the coolers were sold in several body and lid color combinations. They were sold at Target, Costco, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and other retailers from January 2019 to last month. The coolers also were sold online at Igloocoolers.com and Amazon.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled coolers and contact Igloo for a free replacement handle, the company and U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission advise.
