I hope that you’re getting some joy today. Whether it’s celebrating the Day of Love with your partner or getting together with friends or family.
Valentine’s Day, the third most expensive holiday for U.S. consumers with total spending expected to be $29.1 billion, is a big day for the nation’s businesses.
Hopefully, most lovers will be able to find a gift or activity that has meaning.
Candy, with 56 percent of those in a survey saying that would be the gift they were buying, and flowers, 41 percent, seem to be continuing as popular Valentine’s Day gifts.
The gift of an experience is growing in popularity with 39 percent of people in the survey saying it was their choice.
For singles, the survey indicated 31 percent of people were looking forward to treating themselves for Valentine’s Day or planning a get-together with their single friends or family.
As for me, I’m having a big time because my daughter is visiting from Madrid. We’re headed to Trader Joe’s in about an hour to buy some chocolates.
