How are you doing on Memorial Day?

I lost my Uncle Frank Gilliam in World War II. He died in the Battle of the Bulge in 1945 along with 81,000 other American soldiers.

My family was luckier than most. My uncles Richard Telecky and Orval Telecky survived and returned. They were able to find jobs, marry, and have children.

I can’t imagine how difficult it must be for parents who have had a child killed in wars, for spouses who have lost their partners, for children who have lost a parent, and for those who have lost a brother or sister. My heart goes out to you on this day that we remember.
