How are you doing on Christmas Day?

Best wishes on Christmas Day.

Christmas Day, celebrated by about 88 percent of Americans, is a day of celebrations, gatherings, and joy – and sometimes stress.

Joy comes from gathering with family and friends and enjoying dinners, parties, and gift exchanges and preparing for these events.

Stress can come from getting tired from the work required to get ready for events and shopping.

In addition, with 122 million Americans traveling, things can happen along the way to make trips complicated.

When I read about the storms in California, the reports said they’d be in Southern California. I didn’t think my daughter and her family in Sacramento would be affected. However, she said they’ve had lots of wind and rain on the farm.

On holiday spending, the National Retail Federation estimated that consumers plan to spend $890.49 per person on average this year on holiday gifts, food, decorations, and other seasonal items. That could be stressful for some budgets.

Another survey surprised me. WalletHub found that about 60 percent of Americans say they’d enjoy the holidays more if people didn’t exchange gifts.

Gift giving during the holidays is such a big part of the American tradition, I never thought so many people would find it unenjoyable.

I hope your Christmas Day is going well and you’re having lots of joy.
