Obama spent his birthday Wednesday evening at a fundraiser in Chicago, reports the Los Angeles Times. The event, which featured the band OK Go, singer Jennifer Hudson, and musician Herbie Hancock, was held at the Aragon ballroom. Wealthy donors attended a dinner along with the concert at a cost of $35,800 per person, with the money split between the president’s reelection fund and the Democratic National Committee.
See this AARP interview for Obama’s thoughts about turning 50.
When asked in the interview what he wanted for his birthday, Obama said:
A much lower unemployment rate. And lower gas prices. [Laughs.] Those would be perfect gifts for my birthday.
Take a look at the White House website. It’s interesting for consumers to see that variety of items that are covered there.
The media are so focused on the battle between Democrats and Republicans that consumers get the impression that it’s the only thing happening in government.
By checking the White House website, you’ll get a glimpse about other issues that the Obama administration is working on: fuel economy standards, food safety, childhood hunger, and don’t ask, don’t tell.
