Ford Motor Co. is recalling about 1.4 million Lincoln and Ford cars in North America due to unsecured bolts that may let the steering wheel loosen or dislodge.
Two accidents and one injury have been reported because of the faulty steering wheels.
The bolts may loosen over time resulting in the steering wheel possibly getting loose or detaching from the steering column.
The recall is for the 2014 through 2018 model-year Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ sedans.
Dealers will replace the bolts with longer ones that have more aggressive threads and a nylon patch to stop them from coming loose, Ford said.
About 1.3 million cars are being recalled in the United States, while the rest are in Mexico and Canada.
