Cost of Thanksgiving dinners goes down for 2023

As the holiday season approaches, Thanksgiving marks a day of giving thanks for American families.

Despite recent inflation in the United States, the cost of Thanksgiving dinner is expected to be lower this year compared to 2022. The main reason is the falling of the average turkey prices in 2023 due to growth in production.

The national average price for a 12-person Thanksgiving meal this year is $75.01. The national average price for a 16-pound whole Thanksgiving turkey this year is $37.98, which is 16.71 percent cheaper than in 2022.

Scholaroo, a financial and educational firm, analyzed Thanksgiving dinner prices to find the price changes over the past year across the country.

Here are the results for the states with the highest decreases for Thanksgiving dinner price from last year:

1. Rhode Island
