Baby boomers are among the many veterans who have served their country. One estimate is there are 9.5 million boomer veterans in America.
Many speeches are given on Veterans Day about the contributions soldiers are making and have made to our country.
However, this year I’m worried about what will happen to veterans under the new Republican administration. Most government services will be cut. Social Security and Medicare will be cut, items important for older veterans.
Government regulations will be slashed, too. Among them, regulations on for-profit colleges. For-profit colleges prey on veterans. The Obama administration made progress here telling these colleges that they had to be truthful in reporting how many of their graduates got jobs and not falsify grade and attendance records to make performance look better.
Corinthian Colleges closed down due to the tighten government scrutiny.
Under the new Republican administration, will we again see thousands of veterans tricked into signing up for these worthless classes and degrees?
So, best wishes to veterans during the next four years. They, along with other groups of Americans, will be facing more difficult lives as programs and regulations are slashed.
See the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans' information on five ways you can help veterans.
And, on Veterans Day, I think about peace.

Best wishes to you and your family on Veterans Day.
