Which consumer happenings cheered you this week and which ones made you want to scream or weep?
Here are my best and worst consumer experiences this week:
My best: Writing consumer articles for WalletPop
This week, I started writing consumer protection articles for the Consumer Ally section of WalletPop. My first two articles are: “Founder of Veterans Charities Accused of Pocketing Donations” and “Tanning Salon Chain Settles Charges on Contracts, Consumer Deceit.”
I’m enjoying working with the WalletPop staff. They’re great.
My worst: Misinformation from a Michaels employee about a sale
Saturday, I went to Michaels to get some archival-quality pens to write on the back of photos. I was planning to visit my sister in Kent, Wash., on Sunday to work on organizing my mom’s photos.
While I was there, I stopped by the framing desk to check out the possibility of getting a mat cut with places for four 5 x 7 photos of my twin grandchildren. The employee at the framing desk said Michaels had a sale on matting and it would end Sunday.
So, on my way to Kent, I stopped to pick out a frame and order the matt. The clerk working in framing told me the sale was continual until corporate leaders said to stop it.
It took a half hour to pick out the frame and order the mat. It was time I could have spent with my sister working on family photos. I would have appreciated getting the correct information from the first employee.
