It's winter, and in many areas, deer are coming down from the mountains to look for food.
Be on the lookout, especially at dusk. I hit a deer once on Blewett Pass in Washington state. It was a huge trauma.
We saw these deer when we were on a trip this fall. Fortunately, I saw them from a distance and was able to pull over. I had my camera handy, so I took a lot of pictures.
We also saw a herd of deer in the Palouse country. They were sitting in a wheat field, munching stubble.
