W.P. Appliances Inc. is recalling about 27,000 Wolfgang Puck Electric Reversible Tri-Grill/Griddles.
A defect in the electrical wiring of the electric grills/griddles can pose a risk of overheating, melting, and an electrical shock hazard to consumers, W.P. Appliances and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said in a statement.
The firm has received four reports of electrical shock and two reports of melted plastic housing.
The recall includes Wolfgang Puck brand combination electric grills/griddles with dual thermostatic controls and model number BRTGG010. The grills measure about 14.5 inches in width, 11 inches in depth, and 6.5 inches in height.
The model number is located on an ETL/Intertek foil sticker label affixed to the bottom of the unit. The stainless steel grills/griddles have "Wolfgang Puck Bistro Collection" stamped on the front of the unit next to the control dials. They feature a stainless steel handle used to compress the top and bottom grill plates.
Manufactured in China by YouO Electric Appliances Co. Ltd., the combination grill/griddles were sold exclusively by The Home Shopping Network nationwide, HSN's telephone ordering system, and online at www.HSN.com for about one week between April 30 through May 6. The price was about $100.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled combination grills/griddles and contact W.P. Appliances for instructions on returning the grills/griddles for a full refund, the company and commission advise.

I am a Canadian who had purchased this grill from The Shopping Channel in Mississauga, Ontario. Received the recall notice and did as was asked, sending back the cord To W. P. Appliances Inc on Jan. 4, 2012 and was told I would receive my refund in 4-6 weeks. I am still waiting for my money!! All my calls to the #855-666-0478 are in vain as no one is calling me back and now when I call the message states the mailbox is full!! I am not at all happy with the lack of service regarding this recall. I WANT MY REFUND!! I have my doubts that Mr. Puck is even aware of the extremely poor service being supplied to those consumers who purchased this particular grill. Though I have in the past purchased other Wolfgang Puck products, I will no longer be doing so. To put it bluntly…HIS SERVICE DEPT. JUST PLAIN SUCKS!!! And I am letting others know about my dilemma in the hopes that they don’t fall prey to a similar situation.
