Last week, I was really fortunate to save a lot of money on six Black Friday purchases. All items were things I’d been planning to buy, except SD cards that I can always use since I’m a photo journalist.
The sandals were the best deal. They price was $180 and were on sale for $49. I was thrilled they fit. Unfortunately, the boots I tried on, with a much lesser discount, didn’t fit.
Also a great deal was the vegan food from Plantstrong. In addition to the whole wheat pizza crust, I ordered cornbread mix, granola, and veggie burger mix.
Here are the details:
| Item | Cost | Savings | Why |
| Plantstrong | $103.44 | $ 68.96 | Vegan food, including whole wheat pizza crusts that I can’t find locally. |
| Franklin Planner | $ 47.87 | $ 4.30 | I’ve used the planner for years. Unfortunately, I get hundreds of emails from them during the year just to know about this end-of-year sale. |
| Sandals | $ 53.80 | $131 | These are for wearing inside for my no outside shoes policy. |
| Paper shredder | $158.33 | $ 45.65 | I looked at the Wirecutter listing in a New York Times article on the sale prices for everything they had reviewed all year. I saw an eight-page shredder and asked my daughter if I should get the larger one. She said “Yes. You have lots of papers to shred.” |
| Underwear | $ 88.75 | $ 42.66 | Running low. |
| SD cards | $100.90 | $ 7.68 | Also on the Wirecutter list. |
| Total savings | $300.25 |
Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales are usually the biggest sales of the year. Other significant sales are New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July Fourth, and Labor Day.
