Has summer gone away already?

Suddenly, last summer …

I was all set to continue a busy week of gardening and enjoying summer weather. I even looked at the weather forecast and it was all sunshine, appreciated in the rainy Seattle area.

However, it began to rain; then it rained some more. Almost an entire week of rain instead of the sunshine I’d expected. We even had a thunderstorm or two, unusual for this area. Darn. I hope summer isn’t over.

One of my blogging friends also is lamenting the passing of summer:

Meryl Baer

Suddenly summer is gone – almost. A month of summer remains on the calendar, but our daily lives move on. In this week’s post, Meryl Baer of Musings of a Shore Life laments the passing of summer, to-dos not completed, and favorite projects and activities done too infrequently.

My other blogging friends are busy, too, writing about life’s adventures:

Carol Cassara

Carol Cassara of Carol A. Cassara Writer says she’s attuned to people who don’t exactly “fit the mold” because she’s one of them. In this week’s blog offering, she offers encouragement in “When You Don’t Fit the Mold.”

Rebecca Olkowski

Do you enjoy going to cultural festivals? Rebecca Olkowski with BabyBoomster.com went to the Nisei Week Festival in Little Tokyo Los Angeles. It’s been going on since the 1930s except when members of the community were interned during World War II. The festival celebrates Japanese American culture and heritage with music, dancing, and more.

Laurie Stone

“… Because Rocky liked being on his own so much, the cat came to know hidden parts of our house that we didn’t. Sometimes he’d be missing for the whole day inside, and we had no idea where he went. He’d just magically reappear. One day we heard Rocky’s cries from the den but couldn’t find him. Finally, after looking everywhere, we realized his meows were coming from inside the ceiling. We couldn’t figure out how he got there …” From the book “Tail Wags and Whiskers” by Laurie Stone who blogs at Laurie Stone Writes. Check out Stone’s article “The Cat Who Disappeared” to see how that pesky cat got out of his dilemma.

  1. I grew up in Central Washington, over the Cascade Mountains, which has normal seasons and not much rain. I forget every year when it’s sunny in July that I live in a rainy place. Then, when the rains start again, I get surprised. Funny.
