An average date night in America costs $101, with those in Honolulu, $127, and New York, $121, paying the most. This ranks globally as one of the top three most expensive places to have a date night in major global cities around the world.

A typical date night in America — consisting of a mid-range dinner for two, a shared bottle of wine, two movie tickets, and a 5-mile taxi ride home — will cost an average of $101, an analysis from dating site EliteSingles shows.

However, some cities are pricier than others: the date mentioned above costs an average of $127 in Honolulu, $121 in New York, $117 in San Francisco and Washington, D.C., and $114 in Los Angeles.

In Kansas City, an average date night is only $82. Other less expensive date nights in American cities include Indianapolis, $87; Portland, $91; and Philadelphia, $92.

The cost of a date night around the world

Using the same criteria for a “typical” date night, and converting local currencies into U.S. dollars, the analysis showed that the average global cost of a date is $86, making it less than the American average of $101.

Oslo is the world’s most expensive place to have date night, with a typical evening costing $135. At the other end of the scale is Bogotá, where the same date is $44.
