Be sure to vote Nov. 2

Vote

In Washington state, we now get our ballots in the mail. I voted last week, a first. I often wait until the last day to turn my ballot in.

Much is at stake for baby boomers and other consumers in this year’s mid-term elections. Gains have been made in health care and financial reform. Although more modest than I’d like to see, these reforms need to be retained.

Check out the candidates and issues on the ballot carefully. Evaluate them based on what their positions are for consumers. The rhetoric for conservatives is to cut government spending and regulations. Is that going to help you or the rich special interests? Don’t be fooled by Wall Street, the banking industry, and corporate interests.

I’ve been knocking on doors for my favorite candidate. I talked to one voter who didn’t think the reforms passed were strong enough. Another was disgruntled by all the negative advertising. I hope I convinced both of them to vote in this important election.

Join millions of Americans and me. Vote Nov. 2.
