Happy Earth Day

Earth Day was created in 1970, an era when many baby boomers were immersed in activist causes. It was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson as an "environmental teach-in" designed to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's environment.

What’s your opinion on the best earth day events in your community?

Here in Olympia, Wash., the Washington State Department of Natural Resources will host a celebration of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Mima Mounds Natural Area Preserve near Littlerock.

Volunteers and visitors will work to remove invasive Scotch broom and take part in interpretive site tours led by the site’s managers and stewards.

I hope you’re able to participate in a great, earth friendly project that gives you much joy.
