Bloggers are busy as the holidays approach

Mona and Lisa Robison Christmas 2022 at Mom's HouseIt’s a flurry of activity getting ready for the holidays. I’ve purchased my plane ticket to California, started my shopping, and am contemplating decorations.

My daughters came for an early Christmas last year and the year before. I “decked the halls” with a living Christmas tree, got out the nice China and red table runner, and we cooked up a storm. The presents were phenomenal, including gifts from Tenerife, the largest island in the Canary Islands, which my daughters had visited.

Meanwhile, my blogger friends are busy, too:

Holiday memories

As we frantically prepare for the holidays, the traditions, activities, and celebrations inevitably stir memories of past holiday events. In this week’s post Meryl Baer of Musings of a Shore Life, recalls one year’s holiday dilemma that permanently changed a family Christmas tradition.

Christmas rite of passage

Have you ever had a moment you expected to like, but instead felt…verklempt? This happened as Laurie Stone of Laurie Stone Writes recently watched her son Patrick carry out two large plastic boxes from her house. Inside lay Christmas ornaments with lights and garland to bring to his apartment. He was off to buy a tree with his live-in girlfriend, Julia. Stone watched and waited to feel relief and triumph at this long-awaited moment. Instead, something strange happened.

The loss Rosalynn Carter

Over on her blog, Carol Cassara of Carol Cassara Writes couldn’t let the week pass without acknowledging the wonderful human being we knew as Rosalynn Carter. Read her short post “A Word About the Loss of Rosalynn Carter.”

Relationship challenges

Women over 60 who are suddenly single aren’t always in a hurry to get into another relationship. Rebecca Olkowski with BabyBoomster.com writes about some of the reasons she and other women she knows are happy living without them or at least not in close proximity.

Less clutter

Jennifer Koshak of Unfold and Begin shared just a short update this week. She finally started clearing out a part of her new apartment that’s been bothering her, especially since she has to work out of this room.
