Miley Cyrus should be ashamed of herself.
With her 2013 MTV Video Music Awards ceremony performance this fall – dressed in flesh-colored bra and pants, grinding up and down on a black-and-white suited Robin Thicke, wagging her tongue, and using a large foam finger to simulate masturbation – Cyrus brought soft porn into American households.
I didn’t watch the awards ceremony, but I’ve seen clips of the performance dozens of times.
I also saw an interview where Cyrus said she was stifled as an actor when she was younger and now enjoys being able to “be herself.”
And, I’ve seen the clip dozens of times where she shouts, “Hanna Montana is dead”!
Yet again, in an interview about smoking pot on stage during a performance in Amsterdam, Cyrus excitedly told how it wasn’t planned. She had the joint in her purse, so it just came to her to add smoking the joint to her performance.
In her songs, Cyrus glorifies marijuana and molly, a form of estacy, according to The Guardian Express article “Miley Cyrus Celebrity Descent: Pole Dancing, Naked Photos, Phallic Cakes, and Drug Glorification.”
Please.
Cyrus needs to go to college and learn how to be an educated person, a grownup. Her comment that people don’t have sex after they’re 40 years old is beyond belief.
Cyrus’ over sexualized, drug-focused performances and music, unfortunately, make an impression on young people. Teens and preteens look up to celebrities. Cyrus’ tongue wagging, twerking performances and drug-glorifying music certainly aren’t good examples for youth.
Recently, I saw a young woman who had copied Cyrus’ hair style. I imaging kids are copying her behaviors as well.
I hope that we don’t have to go through years of watching Cyrus live out a troubled life. It’s sad that child stars, such as Amanda Bynes and Lindsay Lohan, have had such difficult lives.
Granted, Cyrus is just another victim of an over sexualized, violent prone popular culture. However, it’s unfortunate for us all that she, at age 20, decided to kick it up a notch.
