For most summers, my daughter Lisa, who lives in Madrid, visits me with her kids, Rafa and Cecilia. Although the visits are shorter now that the kids are older and want to spend more time with their friends, we had a great time.
Fun times included visiting with Lisa’s friends in Seattle including a barbecue, swimming in local lakes on hot days, walking in an arboretum and parks, and a dinner or two at one of our favorite restaurants.
We also had a great July Fourth celebration with friends, neighbors, and relatives.
My blogging friends also are busy now that summer is in full swing:
Carol Cassara
How about a happy summertime vibe over at Carol Cassara’s blog Carol A. Cassara Writer? This week she teaches us how to make pretty flower ice cubes that would make any summer party even more special. Read about it here.
Meryl Baer
Meryl Baer of Musings of a Shore Life looked forward to enjoying summer days under her newly acquired beach canopy. Unfortunately things don’t always work out the way we hope or expect them to, as Baer describes her canopy woes in this week’s post “Why is Simple Sometimes not so Simple?”
Rebecca Olkowski
Rebecca Olkowski of BabyBoomster.com loves to explore fun places to visit in Los Angeles, where she lives. For summer fun, she recently ventured to a small community called Frogtown near the Los Angeles River. The neighborhood holds a bi-monthly event called the Frogtown Flea Crawl, which offers an eclectic collection of cool finds, a brewery, and a scenic bike path.
Elizabeth Havey
Forgiveness heals, according to Elizabeth Havey of Reading, Writing … That’s What I Do. No matter how we deal with pain in our lives, we must learn how to forgive, Harvey says in her article “How and Why We Must Forgive Our Hurts.”
Laurie Stone
Laurie Stone of Laurie Stone Writes wondered what had happened when, one morning, she went out to her back deck and found chair cushions and throw pillows laying everywhere. One of the pillows had a long tear with the white stuffing coming out. After standing there for a second, watching and listening, she only heard the birds twittering. Stone wondered who the neighborhood marauders were. See her article “Rounding Up the Usual Suspects” to see what her investigations uncovered.

it sounds like you’re really having a great summer with that time with your family
Great posts today….thanks to all, Beth Havey
Yes, I had a great time with my family, but now I’m sad. However, I’m getting back into my routine. My garden is growing well and that makes me happy.
