It was fun to go to the supermarket last night and this morning and see guys picking out flowers and gifts for their sweethearts. If I wasn’t recovering from the flu, I’d hang around and watch more.
The amount the average person celebrating Valentine’s Day this year is estimated to be $188.81, according to a WalletHub survey.
The survey also found 56 percent of celebrators plan to buy candy, 40 percent flowers, and 40 percent Valentine’s Day greeting cards.
Twenty-eight percent of singles say they’re looking forward to treating themselves for Valentine’s Day or plan a get-together with their single friends or family.
Thirty-nine percent of Americans plan to buy themselves a present on Valentine’s Day.
So all that spending adds up to a lot of money – $27.5 billion for the sweetheart’s holiday this year.
