The Huffy Corp. is recalling about 24,700 ride-on toys that can overheat due to improper wiring, posing a fire risk.
The firm has received 20 reports of incidents of the ride-on toys smoking or catching fire, resulting in five minor burns.
The recall involves Huffy-branded Torex 24-volt ride-on toy utility terrain vehicles or UTVs with red trim. “Torex” is located on the front and side of the ride-on toy, and model numbers 17249 and 17310 with date codes between 16919 and 11122 are located under the body near the rear wheels.
The ride-on toys were sold only at Walmart nationwide and online at www.walmart.com from August 2019 through December 2024. The cost was between $500 and $600.
Consumers should stop using the recalled UTVs and contact Huffy for a repair, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and company advise. Huffy will reimburse consumers up to $50 for third-party repairs.
