More than a quarter of a million pressure washers are being recalled after 41 explosions and 32 injuries

TTI Outdoor Power Equipment is recalling about 764,000 power washers in the United States and about 16,000 in Canada.

The capacitor can overheat and burst, causing ejecting parts that pose a serious injury risk to the user or bystanders.

TTI Outdoor Power Equipment has received 135 reports of capacitors overheating, including 41 reports of explosions, resulting in 32 injuries and/or fractures to the fingers, hands, face, and eyes.

The pressure washers were sold at Home Depot and Direct Tools Factory Outlet stores nationwide and online at homedepot.com and directtoolsoutlet.com from July 2017 through June 2024. The cost was between $300 and $400.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled pressure washers, the company and U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission advise.
