Tips for back to school shopping for 2021

Colored-pencils-in Bins in Store 1600861_640Despite the surge in the pandemic in some areas, it’s likely that kids will be back to in-person school in the fall. That means back to school shopping probably will return to looking for more traditional school supplies.

Sales have already started and are likely to continue into September.

DealNews suggests consumers look for the following deals:

Kids clothes. Clothing discounts are always a part of back to school sales. Watch for sales at Target and outdoor stores such as Eddie Bauer.

Backpacks. Compare prices and you should be able to find prices as low as $9. Check Kohl’s, Amazon, and Staples for brands such as adidas, Champion, Nike, and PUMA.

Lunchboxes. Look for bargains at Kohl’s and on Amazon.

Laptops. There may be fewer deals due to lower demand, since many parents may have purchased laptops last year for at-home learning. Do research and compare prices.

School supplies. Check Staples, Target, and Amazon for items such as notebooks, pens, pencils, folders, and index cards.

Masks. Masks are much easier to find now than at the beginning of the pandemic. Check Lands’ End and shopDisney for deals.

Good luck sleuthing out the bargains this year.

  1. Why no mention of Goodwill, or other thrift shops (some animals shelters run second hand stores to help fund the shelter)? I’ve seen (and purchased) insulated lunchboxes and backpacks at thrift stores.
