Would you like to get an email every day that tells you what’s in your snail mail?

In February, I send a letter to my daughter in Madrid that she was to sign for. It was beginning to look like the letter was lost, and I’d misplaced the receipt with the tracking number.

Since I have a mailbox for my business, I have an account with the U.S. Postal Service.

I looked in my account to see if information about the letter might be there. It wasn’t, but I signed up for USPS Informed Delivery, hoping it would be helpful in finding the letter.

Informed Delivery is a free service from USPS that shows you preview images of incoming mail, as well as status updates about your incoming and outbound packages. You can see those notifications in a morning Daily Digest email, or at any time on the dashboard from your phone, computer, or the Informed Delivery Mobile app.

Informed Delivery provides grayscale images of letter-sized mail and tracking information for packages, but doesn’t include all types of mail, such as magazines or large envelopes.

How to sign up for Informed Delivery

·  If you already have a USPS.com account: Go to your account preferences, scroll to the Informed Delivery section, and opt in to Informed Delivery.

·  If you don’t have a USPS.com account: Go to the Informed Delivery page and click the sign-up link.
·  Enter your address to check if it’s eligible for Informed Delivery.

·  Provide your account information.

·  Verify your identity.

·  Receive Informed Delivery notifications.

Informed Delivery wasn’t helpful in finding the letter to my daughter as the service only reports incoming mail that the USPS scans.

If you try it out, let me know how you like it.
