February isn’t one of the best months of the year to find bargains. However, by looking around and comparing prices, you likely will be able to save some money.
TVs
Since February is Super Bowl month, you’re likely to see sales on big-screen TVs at retailers such as Best Buy, Amazon, Costco, Walmart, and Target. However, the sales won’t be as good as the ones you find around Black Friday in November. The Super Bowl is Sunday, Feb. 8. Could it be possible that the Seattle Seahawks will be in it?
Valentine’s Day clearance
Before Valentine’s Day you may find a few, scattered deals around Feb. 14. Compare prices for the typical Valentine’s gifts and also sweetheart-themed products. You may even find some restaurant deals around Valentine’s Day, too.
After Valentine’s Day, you’re likely to find good deals on chocolates, stuffed animals, and other gift items. These seasonal sales often occur at retailers such as Walmart, Target, Dollar Tree, drug stores, and major grocery stores.
Presidents’ Day sales
Presidents’ Day is Feb. 16 and most retailers will be offering holiday weekend sales. Look for deals on home goods, such as bedding, furniture, mattresses, kitchen gadgets, and small and major kitchen appliances. Mattress Firm, Serta, Best Buy, Lowe’s, and more are likely to be offering bargains perhaps $500 off for mattresses and up to 35 percent off on appliances.
Winter clothing
Expect decent discounts on winter clothing as many retailers start trying to clear the racks to make room for spring apparel. Some of the discounts may be part of Presidents’ Day sales.
Fitness equipment
January and June are the best months for sales on fitness equipment. However, in February, you could find some deals on open-box and new fitness equipment as stores want to get them sold.
What to skip
Flowers are going to be expensive. Give a favorite photo in a frame or a gift basket instead.
Also skip most electronics. Laptops, desktops, tablets, and video game consoles are usually less expensive in November during Black Friday sales. If you need to buy electronics sooner, compare prices at Black Friday in July sales before the back-to-school season. Also, Amazon often holds its Prime Day sale in July.
As for luggage, it often goes on sale during March.
