Presidents' Day is a good time to shop for deals on home goods, tech, and clothing
Here are bargains to look for, according to DealNews.com:
Tech
Tech is always a big category during this holiday. The last few years, Best Buy has celebrated the holiday with a four-day sale over the weekend. In 2017, the retailer discounted laptops, tablets, TVs, printers, and computer accessories by up to $500. Presidents' Day was a good time to upgrade appliances, too, since Best Buy dropped the price on those by up to 35 percent.
Home goods
Home goods of all kinds are popular on Presidents' Day, but the holiday is an especially good time to look for bedding. Last year, shoppers could get up to 75 percent off at Pottery Barn and up to 65 percent off at Bed Bath & Beyond when buying furniture, bedding, decor, and bath items. Target offered 15 percent to 30 percent off some furniture, apparel, shoes, and bedding.
Clothing
In 2017, discounts of at least 50 percent were popular at stores such as Gap Factory, Banana Republic Factory, and Eddie Bauer. Shoppers also could save 40 percent at Gap, as well as getting an extra 10 percent off and free shipping using coupon codes.
Mattresses
Last year, US-Mattress took up to 60 percent off, and up to an extra $25 off some orders. JCPenney also discounted furniture and mattresses by 40 percent to 60 percent. And 1800Mattress had sets starting as low as $160.
No deals
Don't expect many discounts on Valentine's Day gifts such as chocolates, flowers, or stuffed bears. After weeks of trying to get both early and last-minute romantic shoppers, retailers aren't going to be feeling generous when it comes to those traditional presents.
Two holidays
Valentine's Day and Presidents' Day sometimes fall within a few days of each other, so sales covering both holidays makes sense. However, even when they're further apart, the February sales still stretch through the later part of the month.
