Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you all

This year, I’m having a bigger and better time celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.

A distant relative from back East contacted me early this year to let me know she’s researched a common ancestor back to mid-1800s. He’s from Kilkishen in County Clare.

These are my grandmother’s ancestors, my dad’s mom. Although we and others have researched by dad’s father ancestors, the Slingsby’s, we hadn’t researched the Baylees.

I’m looking forward to visiting Ireland next year. I’ve always wanted to visit, and am thrilled to have the opportunity.

So, I’m one of more than 34 million Americans with Irish ancestry. My dad always told me I was a quarter Irish, but it’s fabulous to have more information about my Irish ancestors.

I hope you have a great time celebrating St. Patrick’s Day.

I tipped a glass Saturday at a local Irish restaurant with a friend to avoid the holiday crowds Monday.

Cheers.
