I don’t know about you, but 2022 went by so fast for me. After four years, I was finally able to get the first draft of the book about my journalism career done, but the printed copy is still elusive. I’m not a person who makes resolutions, but I’ve written about why people make them and how well they work or don’t work.

Unfortunately, I got caught up in the Southwest Airlines holiday flight cancellation debacle around Christmas. Scheduled to return home at 10:45 Monday Dec. 26, I was shocked when my daughter came in my room just as I finished dressing and began packing to go to the airport and said my flight had been canceled.

Americans plan to spend $832.84 per person on gifts and other holiday items this year, according to a survey conducted for the National Retail Federation. That’s a 6 to 8 percent increase over last year.

What are the safety rules about cooking stuffing outside the turkey?

At holiday dinners, we usually put the stuffing in the turkey and cook the two together. However, at a recent holiday event, the topic came up about what to do if you cook the stuffing separately. I seemed to remember that even if you don’t put the stuffing in the turkey, you shouldn’t make it and put it in the refrigerator to cook later.
