To me, men’s pants look comfortable. With wide legs and pleats at the waist, they appear to offer more comfort than many of the designs women squeeze into.
I received an e-mail this week about Veggies, pants made out of organic cotton that have a drawstring on the inside of the waist.
The website says Veggies have a roomy cut and deep pockets.
Mark Rosal says he developed the pants after 30 years of experience wearing drawstring pants.
Rosal wore a pair in the fall of 1977 when he took an eight-month trek through Mexico and Guatemala. They were so comfortable he had drawstring pants made for him throughout the years.
In 2005, after years of teasing, he decided to begin marketing drawstring pants because looser, baggier pants were a more acceptable style.

Thanks for the piece about my pants Rita. Although we are a new company I really feel that the time is right for this style of pants. I belive there are a lot of other men like myself who really are interested in a really comfortable pant that can function both for business and casual wear.
The great part about the internal drawstring;is that it is not visible but allows the wearer to essentially micro adust his( or her) comfort level. The reason I put ‘her’ in brackets is that I have marketed these pants to men, and they are cut for men, but my wife certainly seems to enjoy wearing them!
My choice of organic denim twill, is simply in line with my personal beliefs that business must lead the way when it comes to eco responsibility. I certainly want Veggies to be a huge success,but I am equally concerned about helping the planet — as I am sure most of us are!

Veggies caught my attention because I wasn’t aware that men’s pants could be uncomfortable for baby boomer men. They look so comfortable to me.
Women’s pants can be so challenging, especially the low-cut styles which predominate the marketplace these days.
