How to keep your wooden fence in good condition

Since I’m having some remodeling done to my home, I’ve been out in my yard a lot lately.

Unfortunately, I noticed more clearly that my beautiful wooden fence that I had installed several years ago is beginning to look quite faded in places. I think it’s time to have it stained again.

I had two painters come to give me an estimate. They said the fence needed to be washed with soap and water and a disinfectant to kill the mold before its stained.

It would be best to wait until spring because we have too much moisture in the Pacific Northwest this time of year, the painters recommended.

It’s a good idea to carefully inspect your fence several times a year. Check for peeling, splintering, loose nails, mold, breakage, rot, and insect damage. Be sure you also keep bushes, trees, and vines from touching the fence.
