Which consumer happenings cheered you recently and which ones made you want to scream or weep?
Here are my best and worst consumer experiences this week:
My best: A great shopping trip at Costco for a party
Needing food and drinks for a birthday party for 6-year-old twins, my daughter and I headed to Costco for a party run.
It worked out well. We found a large and a small meat tray, a cheese tray, drinks, chips, and dip.
The party was a huge success with 22 kids and 27 adults. A good time was had by all.
My worst: Poor service at Johnny Rockets
Two weeks ago, I blogged about what a good time my daughter, grandchildren, and I had at Johnny Rockets. Our food came right away, and the staff sang and danced to fifties rock n’ roll music.
This week, we had a totally different experience at another Johnny Rockets after we took the twins to see "The Princess and the Frog."
We placed our order. Our fries came right away, but we had to ask several times to get our drinks. Then we waited and waited and waited for our food to come.
After nearly an hour, my daughter pointedly asked our waiter what the problem was. He said something unusual. "If your food doesn’t come in five minutes, you can leave without paying for your drinks and fries."
The food didn’t come, so we left.
I think the waiter forgot to place our order. By offering us the "exit strategy," he got us out of his hair so we didn’t complain to the manager.
