429,000 portable chargers are being recalled after reports of fires and minor burns

Casely is recalling about 429,200 wireless portable power banks because the lithium-ion battery in them can overheat and ignite, posing fire and burn risks.

The firm has received 51 consumer reports of the battery overheating, expanding, or catching fire while they were charging their phones, resulting in six minor burn injuries.

The recall involves the Casely Power Pods 5000mAh portable MagSafe wireless phone charger. “Casely” is engraved on the front side of the plate and model number E33A is printed on the back. Sold in a variety of colors and prints, the power banks are 3 x 2 x 0.25 inches and weigh about 3.2 ounces.

Sold online at getcasely.com, Amazon.com, and other e-commerce websites from March 2022 through September 2024, the power banks cost between $30 and $70.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled portable power banks and contact Casely for a free replacement, the company and U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission advise. They should go to the firm’s website, fill out the form, and submit two photographs; one of the front with the word “Recalled” on it and the date, and the second of the model number that’s located on the back. Upload the photos at https://www.getcasely.com/pages/2025-recall.

Consumers should immediately dispose of the power banks according to local and state regulations. The recalled lithium-ion battery or device shouldn’t be thrown in the trash, in the recycling stream, or in used battery recycling boxes.
