In an op-ed column in The Wall Street Journal last week, Whole Foods CEO John Mackey argued for health care savings accounts and stated that health care is not an intrinsic right.
These conservative ideas are upsetting Whole Foods’ progressive customers.

I think Mackey’s comments illustrate just how out of touch with the rest of the world these executives are. I do like organic, and even have my own garden. However, I’m smart enough to know that not everyone can grow or afford organic, and even if they could, healthy eating does not cure – or prevent – all ills!

I agree wholeheartedly that corporate executives are out of touch with consumers today. We need to get back to better business values where companies strive to provide effective services and quality goods to consumers, not make outrageous profits for shareholders and for corporate leaders.
I’d also like to see public policy makers come up with an new, effective health care system.
