Thanksgiving 2010 – What’s your plan?

What’s happening for you and your family on Thanksgiving Day?

If you’re traveling, roads will be more crowded than last year with an increase of 11.4 percent over the number of Americans traveling in 2009, AAA predicts.

About 42.2 million travelers will be taking a trip at least 50 miles away from home.

If you’ll be staying home and cooking turkey, you’ll be joining more than 45 million households that will be preparing and eating the famous bird for Thanksgiving. That's one sixth of all turkeys sold in the U.S. each year.

I’ll be traveling to Bellingham, Wash., to have Thanksgiving with my nieces and sister. I volunteered to cook because my niece said it was too much work last year.

If my niece takes me up on my offer, I'll cook what my mom made for years. My suggested menu is:

Turkey
Dressing
Mashed Potatoes and Gravy
Candied Sweet Potatoes
Fresh Green Beans With Slivered Almonds
Cranberry Sauce
Salad
Brown and Serve Rolls and Butter
Pies and Whipped Cream
White Wine

So, it will be fun to get together with my family, whether we cook or go out to a restaurant.

Let me know your plans for Thanksgiving Day in the Comment section below.
