To reduce the risk of children and teens suffering serious, even life-threatening injuries from swallowing small, high-powered magnets, the CPSC voted Wednesday to approve a federal safety standard for magnets. When these magnets are swallowed, they can attract to each other through body tissue causing injuries.

Credit Karma deceived people about pre-approval for credit cards or loans offered by banks and lenders that used Credit Karma to promote their financial products.
Pediatric battery-related emergency room visits increased significantly from 2010 to 2017, with children aged 5 years and younger having the highest rates. An estimated 7,032 battery-related emergency room visits occurred annually in children under 18 from 2010 to 2019, more than twice the number from 1990 to 2009.
About 124,000 paddles sold with stand-up paddleboards are being recalled by Agit Global. The paddle can suddenly break mid-shaft into two pieces during use, exposing sharp edges and posing puncture or laceration risks. Agit Global has received 19 reports of the paddle breaking during use.

Scammers are targeting Medicare recipients with fake offers to get “free covid tests.” They’re calling, using TV and online ads, and setting up websites to try to get people to give them their Medicare information. If scammers get the information, they’ll bill fraudulent charges to Medicare. And, the consumers never get any free covid tests.
