What was your best and worst consumer experiences this week?

Which consumer happenings cheered you this week and which ones made you want to scream or weep?

Here are my best and worst consumer experiences this week:

My best: Buying new gloves

Gloves

It’s cold here. My hands get chapped, and the skin cracks and even bleeds.

When I lost one of the gloves from my last pair, it was time for action.

I bought the first pair I found for $15. I’m so happy to have them.

I’m using lots of hand lotion and hoping for the best.

My worst: The closing of two medical supplies stores

Last week, I needed medical supplies. So, in the dark, I tried to find Kirk’s Medical Services on Martin Way in Olympia, Wash. I couldn’t find the two stores, even though I’ve been there several times.

The next day, I thought about calling to see if Kirk’s had gone out of business. However, since the stores have been operating since 1968, I didn’t think it would be possible that they could be closed.

I looked up the address so I could find Kirk’s more quickly. I did find the two Kirk’s stores. Both were empty. I couldn’t believe it.

It looks as though the Great Recession is taking its toll. I’ll have to find another place to buy medical supplies.
