I’m the host for this week’s Best of Boomer Blogs #428.
It’s the holidays, and several of our baby boomer bloggers are interested in traveling.
I’m only thinking about it. Usually, I go to Madrid for Thanksgiving and Christmas to be with my daughter and her family,
However, I fractured my kneecap in August, so I canceled my trip. I didn’t think I’d be up to the long plane ride and all the walking that I do when I visit Europe.
Meryl Baer of Six Decades and Counting is traveling in Norway. Northerners like to leave their homes sometime during the winter and venture to warmer parts. However, Baer is doing the opposite this week. She’s traveling across the pond to Norway, the objective to view the Northern Lights. Before venturing seaward, she explores Oslo, Norway's capital and largest city, and writes about sites seen in “Rediscovering Norwegian Sagas.”
Linda Myers of Thoughts From a Bag Lady in Waiting lives in Washington state and is an Arizona snowbird. Myers writes about the transition that happened last week. It involves saying goodbye and hello.
Tom Sightings of Sightings Over Sixty took a trip up to New England to get in the Christmas spirit, as experienced in historic Marblehead, Mass. Unfortunately, he suffered a slight mishap on the way home, which he relates in “Weekend in New England” … and which resulted in a less than "picture" perfect holiday getaway.
Laura Lee Carter of the Adventures of the New (and Improved) Old Farts says she rarely calls anything awesome, but the views at her Southern Colorado home have been stunning since a Thanksgiving blizzard. And, she reports, the sunrises this week have been fabulous.
On my blog, I write about the importance of comparing prescription drug prices. A survey shows there are shocking differences in the costs of the drugs at different pharmacies. For example, in Raleigh, N.C., prices for a month’s supply of the same drug – generic Cymbalta – was $43 at Costco compared to $249 at Walgreens.
So, Happy Holidays. I hope you don’t get too stressed with your preparations during the season.
