Huisken Meat Co. is recalling nearly 90,000 pounds of beef products that may be contaminated with small pieces of wood, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said Monday.
The Sam’s Choice Black Angus Vidalia Onion items were produced between Nov. 19, 2015, and Dec. 9, 2015.
The recall includes 2-lb. boxes containing six pieces of “Sam’s Choice Black Angus Beef Patties with 19% Vidalia ® Onion” with use by dates 05/17/2016, 05/29/2016, and 06/06/2016.
The packages have “EST. 394A” inside the USDA mark of inspection. They were shipped to retail locations nationwide.
The wood material came an ingredient that was added to the patties and was discovered during production.
No confirmed reports of adverse reactions have been received due to consumers eating the patties. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider, the USDA said.
Consumers who have purchased the patties shouldn’t eat them. They should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase, the USDA advises.
